Forresters Bar & Restaurant With Rooms

If you're ever in Middleton-in-Teesdale and you're after something a little bit special-Forresters Bar & Restaurant With Rooms might just be your new go-to. Tucked away at 52-53 Market Place, this spot isn’t just another countryside pub. It’s a charming escape with food that surprises, service that feels personal, and a vibe that’s equal parts relaxed and refined.

From the moment you step inside, Forresters feels warm and familiar. Think classic wooden interiors, low lighting, and the inviting hum of locals and visitors enjoying hearty meals and good company. It's pet-friendly, kid-friendly, and yes-Wi-Fi and parking are free, which already gives it an edge for those exploring Barnard Castle or the surrounding Teesdale area.

Now let’s talk food-because Forresters doesn’t play it safe. The menu goes far beyond pub staples, though you’ll still find comfort dishes done right. Their Beef Bourguignon is a slow-cooked triumph, rich and velvety, perfect with a glass of red or a local cider. The Duck Breast and Belly Pork come with crisp edges and tender centers, and the Sirloin Steak is everything you want from a high-end cut-juicy, properly seared, and generously portioned.

They don’t shy away from flair either. The Crab Thermador is unexpectedly elegant for a country restaurant, and the Crab on a Savoury Biscuit is an inventive little starter you won’t forget. Vegetarians will find joy too-with creative options like Pizza Hummus and Pesto Flatbread, offering bold, satisfying flavors in a meat-free format.

And if you're dining with a dog-yes, you read that right-they’ve got Doggie Afternoon Tea and even a Dog Pizza Treat. Honestly, it's rare to find a place that takes canine cuisine as seriously as the human kind.

But back to the humans: if you’re after indulgence, the Chorizo Burger and Chips with Salad is a beast of a meal, full of smoky heat and crunchy texture. The Smoked Haddock Scotch Egg and Scotch Egg Starter add a playful twist on classic British fare, wrapped and fried just right. And those with a sweet tooth or just in need of a caffeine pick-me-up won’t go wrong with a creamy coffee latte.

Drink-wise, Forresters stocks a solid selection of beers, wines, and cocktails. From a refreshing pint to a glass of something sparkling, the bar has range. You’ll even find some local brews that complement the food menu beautifully.

Forresters Bar & Restaurant With Rooms isn’t trying to be flashy-it’s genuine. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in for a long dinner, let the kids (or dogs) feel welcome, and enjoy a meal that surprises you with every bite. Whether you’re staying overnight in one of their cozy rooms or just popping in for dinner, the experience is thoughtfully crafted.

With friendly staff who don’t hover but are always there when you need them, and a kitchen that clearly cooks with passion, Forresters stands out. It’s a little slice of Teesdale hospitality, wrapped in flavor, comfort, and just the right amount of creativity.
